Hiking Trails at
The Pinecone Forest

The Pinecone Forest Nature Sanctuary is an eco-friendly retreat where individuals, families and groups can experience nature in a majestic forest setting. Located on the York River and Conroy's Marsh, the scenery and wildlife are spectacular year round.

Experience nature’s beauty first hand in the Pinecone Forest—a great place to hike and to view nature along woodland trails that are easy to walk for both young and old.

There are three routes to choose from:

  • The Cranberry Bog trail along the edge of Pinecone Bay at the upper end of Conroys Marsh.
    (20-30 minutes)
  • The Conroy Rapids trail through a cathedral forest of red and white old-growth pine. (30 minutes)
  • Our longest trail meanders alongside rushing rapids, through old-growth cathedral forest, cedar grove and blueberry meadows. (2-3 hours with stops)

Our hiking trails are open from the beginning of April to the end of October. The best time of year to hike our trails is in the spring during April and May (spring flowers and songbirds), later in August (no bugs), or in the autumn during September and October (fall colours).

$5.00/person, $12.00/family.
